Soliky Sonyka CD

Ihar: Soliky Sonyka

Ihar is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer making quirky, adventurous music that is as comfortingly familiar as it is disarmingly strange. His new album — "Soliky sonyka" (2005) combine instruments with lo-fi electronics.
This record offers colorful, organic instrumental textures, lush harmonies, and skillful songs-writing with only a touch of electronics. Released by Belarus (Grapes records), "Soliky sonyka" works on many levels; its smooth pop surface gives way to richness of detail that invites listening and re-listening. Ihar plays all of the instruments on the record himself: guitars, piano, drums, matumbass, vocals, melodicus, and many more.

Ihar's electronic music -- is extremely harmonious where fine melodies meet sympathetic rhythms. Ihar's deep sensitivity just breaks through his music. Armed with a portable recorder, he has worked outside, in a grass, in the open air, playing and recording acoustic guitars and a voice in the woods or rhythms in the country. Sometimes the recording is minimalist and simple as some fingers snapping on a wood - but he also recorded; keyboards, melodicas, flutes, tumbass, xylotones, bala-bala-voices and harps. The result is a magnificent collection of acoustic and electronic pop with a touch of folk!
